Our windmill in Schneeren, near Hanover (German: Hannover) in North Germany, is a unique holiday home:
The windmill is a fully equipped, modern self-catering accommodation, with thick round walls and a mixture of antique and contemporary furnishings. It has a large, round living-room/kitchen with a fireplace, and on 2 floors 3 double/twin bedrooms, 1 childrens' or single bedroom and 2 bathrooms. Visitors can experience original windmill technology under the roof! [ more ]
Our visitors are invited to explore the almost untouched woods and moors in the area, visit the bird sanctuary by Lake Steinhude (Steinhuder Meer), meditate or attend concerts at the Cistercian Abbey in Loccum or take a boat out onto the Steinhuder Meer. You can also go horse-riding, (mini-)golfing, sailing, kite-surfing, ballooning or visit an adventure park or a dinosaur park. [ more ]
The windmill was built in 1871 and, until it was struck by lightning in 1947, used as a working grain mill. In 1957 it was bought by our grandparents and rebuilt as a family home, while retaining its sails and fantail. It was restored again in 2012-14 to be used as a holiday home. New sails were installed in 2016. [ more ]
The windmill is ideally suited for small groups of friends and families but - on request - can also accommodate larger groups and events. In that case prices will vary, depending on length of stay and numbers. See our overview of prices for the basic accommodation for up to 6 adults and 2+ children:
